For those who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Tom and Jan Koslowski, Karen and Jan met in their Physical Therapy Assistant class at Northern Virginia Community College. Jan, being a Kiwi from New Zealand, has a similar warped sense of humor to Karen's, so they get on very well. Tom has been adopted by Nicholas as his best adult friend, and I suspect that Nicholas is Tom's best 5-year-old friend.

And of course, there's Jasper. He's an eight-week-old cockapoo (cockapoo?) that Karen brought home today (September 7, 2001). He loves the kids, who are all certainly enamored of him, although Nicholas is still a bit uncertain of Jasper's motives when he comes running across the room toward Nicholas!

Our friends Tim and Kim Larimer also just brought Jake home about a week before Karen and Beth got Jasper. Jake is about 13 weeks old, so he's a bit bigger than Jasper, but Jasper doesn't let Jake take advantage of him. The hardest part is sorting out all the J's: Jasper, Jake and Joe (Tim and Kim's son).

By the way, a cockapoo is half-Cocker Spaniel, half-Poodle. A cute dog, as long as you take care not to step on him!
